Following our previous customer updates, we would like to inform you about further impacts resulting from the ongoing low water levels on the Rhine River.

Water levels along the Rhine remain critically low and continue to significantly affect inland shipping capacity. Reduced barge loading levels have led to increased demand for alternative transportation solutions by truck and rail.

As a result, capacity across these modes is becoming increasingly constrained, leading to bottlenecks and longer transit times.

Against this backdrop, the first ocean carriers have announced the introduction of a Congestion Surcharge. Until further notice, this surcharge will apply to import and export shipments moving via the seaports of Rotterdam and Antwerp to and from numerous European locations and will be levied across all transportation modes.

The surcharges imposed by the carriers will be passed on to the affected shipments accordingly. In addition, the limited transport capacity may continue to result in delays in both pre-carriage and on-carriage operations, as well as additional transportation-related costs.

Our team continues to closely monitor the situation and is working to minimize the impact on your supply chains wherever possible.
