With the upcoming commencement of the Brown Marmorated stink bug (BMSB) risk season (1st September 2026), Dachser Australia would like to remind their clients of the below measures for certain goods arriving to Australia.

There are no notable changes to the measures from the previous BMSB season.

To avoid delays, please remind your suppliers to carefully reconsider including any free gifts or promotional items before packing your cargo.

Under DAFF guidelines, including unmanifested promotional items, free samples, or gifts that fall under target high-risk tariff codes can cause an entire consignment to become subject to mandatory BMSB seasonal measures.

Seasonal measures for Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) - DAFF

For the 2026-2027 BMSB risk season, measures will apply to:

· certain goods manufactured in, or shipped from target risk countries, and/or

· vessels that berth at, load, or tranship from target risk countries

Target high risk goods shipped between 1 September 2026 and 30 April 2027 (inclusive) from target risk countries listed below, require mandatory treatment.

Open top containers, flat racks and break bulk cargo that are subject to the measures MUST be treated before arrive to Australia.
